Our Journey

Breaking Barriers Women in Cybersecurity was initially a Lean In Circle, founded in January 2021 by Aastha Sahni. It was formed to help passionate women in Cybersecurity climb up the leadership ladder with women supporting women approach. Aastha was joined by Saman Fatima and Shrutirupa Banerjiee from India as management and technical leads respectively, to expand this circle, formulate the strategies for building technical & non-technical skills, personal branding, equity, and inclusivity among the members which in return makes them explore more community strength and support.

On October 25th, we were registered as NonProfit under Canada NFP Act.

The foundation is diverse and spread across the globe in North America., Europe & Asia. We have 200+ as of date and our mission is to provide opportunities for women to gain educational scholarships, participate in training programs for professional & personal development, generating job and other learning opportunities for members via company/expert collaborations. Also, one of our major focus is to promote more women in the area of research by collaborating with various cyber conferences and universities across globe. Community program/initiatives are designed to support the needs of members ranging from student to mid-senior level.

The community meets monthly via online events where members participate to learn new technical skills, leadership development, job opportunities, research, travel requirements for education and conferences, certifications and scholarships.
